More enforcers deployed today

TO ENSURE the smooth flow of traffic especially during peak hours, some 105 additional traffic enforcers will be deployed to different areas in Bacolod City today.

Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) Chief Benedicto Villarias, said Wednesday that out of the 160 applicants, only 105 have passed the examination Tuesday.

He said BTAO now has a total of 212 traffic enforcers, but “this is not enough.”

The new enforcers will be detailed to the schools and business establishments, Villarias said, adding that the new enforcers will undergo physical agility test to examine if they have capability to be assigned in the field.

They will also undergo a week-long seminar.

A “task force tricycle and trisikad” will be formed to apprehend erring trisikad and tricycle drivers, Villarias said.

He reminded the enforcers to strictly implement the truck ban on September 1 between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. to ease traffic congestion.

The truck ban will be implemented not only for sugarcane trucks but also to heavy trucks.

Those who will apply for exemption from the truck ban need to comply with the requirements at the BTAO, Villarias said.

Villarias also advised the enforcers to discipline themselves so that they could perform in their job well.

“They should love their work not for the sake of money,” he said.

Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentevella also welcomed the new enforcers Tuesday, reminding them to follow the guidelines of traffic.
