Jeff Chan congratulated in resolution

Bacolod City Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr. has filed a resolution congratulating Bacoleño Jeffrei Allan “Jeff” Chan for playing and successfully contributing to Team Gilas Philipinas.

The squad earned a slot in the finals and garnering second-place finish in the 27th FIBA-Asia Basketball Championship held at the Mall of Asia.

He wants to give recognition and appreciation to one of our own, Jeffrei “Jeff” Chan of Team Gilas Pilipinas.

Jeff Chan, born and raised in Bacolod City, started playing basketball for the University of St. La Salle (USLS) in grade school where he competed in various tournaments and earned numerous titles.

During his high school years in the USLS, he played in numerous leagues in Bacolod City and was also chosen to be one of the players for Western Visayas to play in the Palarong Pambansa.

As a young man, Jeff played for the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters before playing for Smart Gilas Philippine Team.

Despite the loss to Iran in the finals, second-place represents its best outing in this prestigious event in almost 30 years, and the team already secured a spot in next year’s Basketball World Cup with a win in the semifinals, he said.
