(Updated) MANILA -- The Light Rail Transit (LRT) lines 1 and 2 and the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 3 will continue to be operational despite the continuous rains and heavy flooding brought by the Southwest Monsoon and Tropical Storm Maring (international nam: Trami) in Metro Manila.
LRT spokesperson Hernando Cabrera said in his Twitter account, @attycabs, that all LRT and MRT lines are operating although there are fewer trains and tellers in the stations.
He also advised commuters that streets surrounding the LRT 1 stations from Baclaran to Monumento are flooded as of 7 a.m.
The Pureza station in the LRT line 2 is also flooded. LRT 2 runs from Recto Avenue to Santolan Road.
"Please be informed that the only flooded area is at Pureza Station. The rest of Line 2 Stations are not flooded. The manpower complement of Line 2 operations is sufficient enough with minimal absences," the Twitter account of the LRT Authority, @OfficialLRTA, said.
Flooded MRT stations meanwhile are Magallanes (waist deep), Buendia (knee deep), and Quezon Avenue (ankle deep). The MRT passes through EDSA from Taft Avenue in Pasay to North Avenue in Quezon City.
According to the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC), all trains operated by the Philippine National Railways are temporarily suspended due to the high level of water in several areas.
