MANILA (Updated 1:34 p.m.) -- Tropical Storm Maring is now out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility, the state weather bureau announced at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. But the storm accelerated as it moves West Northwest at 20 kph.
Maring will still enhance the Southwest Monsoon on Wednesday, which means there will still be monsoon rain on Metro Manila and nearby areas.
At 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Tropical Storm Maring (Trami) was seen at 500 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. The cyclone continues to enhance the Southwest Monsoon currently affecting Luzon.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that Maring packs 105 kilometers per hour (kph)-strong winds near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, the Calabarzon, and the provinces of Benguet, Batanes, and the group of islands of Babuyan shall experience monsoon rain, which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.
At 1:30 p.m. Pagasa maintained yellow rainfall alert over Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite, Pampanga, Zambales, Tarlac, portions of Laguna and Occidental Mindoro as they may experience moderate to heavy rain for the next three hours.
While Pagasa lowered earlier warnings, it cautioned residents against flooding.
The rest of Luzon, Visayas, and Caraga and Davao shall have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms, the state weather bureau said.
The skies of Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, it added. However, Pagasa said in the press briefing that weather is expected to improve Thursday.
In the advisory, Pagasa also said that coastal waters will be moderate to rough. The state weather bureau issued a gale warning over the seaboards of Luzon as waves along the area may 3.4 to 5.0 meters high.
In a press briefing Wedneaday morning. NDRRMC said that La Mesa Dam is still overflowing.
In the latest dam advisory of Pagasa, Binga and Ambuklao dams in Northern Luzon have opened two gates each but the San Roque dam in Pangasinan could still take the water from the two dams. Ipo Dam in Bulacan also opened two gates early Wednesday. (SFP/JK/Sunnex)
