MEGAN LYNN YOUNG was already popular and was already among the favorites right from the presentation of candidates to the media a few weeks back. Then last Sunday evening, she bested 29 other candidates to win the title Ms. World Philippines 2013 plus a number of special awards.
In a post from Missosology, which presented candidates from the Southeast Asian region, it was Megan’s beauty that stood out. Now the question is: Will Megan finally end the long wait for the crown to land on the head of a Filipina?
Cross your fingers, pray for Megan and wish her the best. The pageant is scheduled next month already and will be held in Indonesia.
So it’s true. Supporters of The Voice of the Philippines contestants are given only nine minutes (equivalent to one commercial gap) to text their votes. Cebu’s and Bohol’s pride, Eva de los Santos will perform against three others belonging to Sarah Geronimo’s team this Sunday, Aug. 25.
The contestant who gets the most votes will automatically move to the next round while the fate of the other two will depend on who will be chosen by coach Sarah. So in order for Eva to evade the prickly situation, let’s give her the most votes that we can muster. Each SIM card is entitled to more than one vote. Just take note of announcements including how to vote for you to show your support.
On the Job (OTJ) movie earned standing ovations when it was shown in the Director’s Fortnight Category at the Cannes Film Festival not too long ago. OTJ star Joel Torre won the best actor award in the 17th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea this year. The film will finally be shown in movie houses nationwide starting Aug. 28.
Aside from Joel, the other lead stars are Gerald Anderson and Piolo Pascual who tackle on action roles on the wide screen for the first time. It is directed by Erik Matti and is released by Star Cinema.
Yesterday, Gerald and Dawn Jimenez were slated to meet Cebu movie goers and fans. Were you there? At the same time, Joel and director Erik also meet show biz followers in Bacolod. Mark your calendar for the showing of the movie.
Felina Joyce Lim, the youngest of the three daughters of massage and spa entrepreneurs Johnie and Flor Lim (the other daughters are Fiona and Farina), looks like she’s destined to wear a beauty queen crown this early.
She has barely a couple of experiences in this field then without much ado, she won first runner-up honors in the recent Ms. Chinese Cosmos Southeast Asia 2013 held at the Golden Horses Hotel in Seri Kimbangan, Selangor, Malaysia, last Aug. 10.
She was trying to file an application form for another national pageant in the country when she was offered the task of representing the country in the Ms. Chinese Cosmos pageant.
Independent minded as she is, Felina Joyce flew to Malaysia all by herself, carrying with her a big box containing six gowns by Roger Salazar not to mention her own personal belongings. The rest is history. Congratulations!
Last Wednesday, while many were enjoying the Ninoy Aquino Day, the Provincial Employees Association of Cebu (Peace) cooperated with other volunteer groups in an effort to urgently clean-up the shore of Cordova to at least mitigate the effects of the oil spill brought about by the recent collision of two ships that resulted in the sinking of one at the Lawis Ledge of the city of Talisay.
I doff my hat to the Capitol organization as well as to the other volunteers for the concern.
