TF to nab erring trisikad, tricycle drivers

MEMBERS OF Task Force Trisikad and Tricycle were deployed Monday to different areas of Bacolod City to apprehend out-of-route trisikad and tricycle drivers.

Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) Head Benedicto Villarias said the task force will apprehend the erring drivers, especially during night time.

The BTAO chief assigned 10 members of Task Force Trisikad and Tricycle to apprehend drivers violating traffic rules.

Villarias said the members of task force will concentrate at the downtown area, especially at the San Sebastian-Araneta streets, Luzuriaga-Lacson streets and in barangays 39 and 40.

He said the members were also directed to go down in barangay level to check the associations of tricycle and trisikad, if they had acquired a business permit to operate in the city.

From July to August 26, some 110 trisikad units were seized in various areas of the city, for being out of route, and the drivers were ordered to pay P100 per violation.

Villarias claimed there were also strikers from BTAO that will apprehend those committing double parking at the downtown area and those who sell banana and fried chicken in the area.

Meanwhile, 12 members of Task Force Truck Ban were also deployed on Monday to distribute leaflets and warning to the truck drivers for the implementation of truck ban on September 1.

Villarias said the BTAO will strictly implement the truck ban starting September 1 between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. to ease traffic congestion. The truck ban will be implemented not only for sugarcane trucks, but also to heavy trucks.
