974 flood victims get PhilHealth cards

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Some 974 flood-affected Kapampangans benefited from the recent distribution of Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) cards by the Provincial Government.

Governor Lilia Pineda said the distribution was done to secure the medical needs of the flood victims while they are recovering from losses and damages as a result of the calamity.

Pineda said she also wanted to increase the number of Kapampangans enrolled in the PhilHealth program, as part of her continuing integrated medical assistance to indigent individuals, particularly those living in low-lying communities in the coastal municipalities.

Pineda said the distribution of PhilHealth cards “will benefit first the poorest of the poor.”

She added that they will complete the distribution in due time.

The governor also assured PhilHealth members that if confined in any district hospital in Pampanga, they need not pay for their medical bills as the “no balance billing” policy is still in effect.

Pineda, meanwhile, said that anybody who would get sick as a result of the unprecedented flooding, including but not limited to leptospirosis and dengue cases, they are also welcome free of charge in any hospital run by the Provincial Government.
