Mabilog urges cooperation vs criminality

ILOILO City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, chairman of the regional peace and order council in Western Visayas, urged strong cooperation in the barangay to prevent or eradicate criminality.

Guest speaker during the 19th National Crime Prevention Week celebration on Monday, Mabilog said the region is winning the war against criminality in whatever form as peace and order is a foundation of a strong community.

The opening celebration held at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand underscores the strong community participation with a theme: “Malasakit mo ang kailangan upang ang krimen ay maiwasan.”

The celebration highlighted the awarding of most outstanding and most friendly police station in the region.

With cash award, certificate of recognition and trophy to the champions, the awarding was participated by Mabilog, Philippine National Police (PNP) regional director Agrimero Cruz Jr, Napolcom regional director Marquez Palomar, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) regional director Evelyn Trompeta, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency regional director Ronnie Delicana, thousands of parade participants and employees of agencies under DILG.

The awardees for the friendliest police station are the municipalities of Kalibo, Aklan as champion with Kalibo Mayor William Lachica, followed by Cabatuan, Iloilo PNP station, Jamindan PNP and Belison PNP as consolation prize winners.

The friendliest police station in the highly urbanized and component cities are Iloilo City PNP under Senior Superintendent Ruperto Floro as the winner for two consecutive years, followed by Bago City, San Carlos City, Silay City, and Bacolod City as consolation prize winners.
