KIDAPAWAN CITY -- A wayward van hit a motorcycle and killed on the spot a motorist in North Upi, Maguindanao on Monday.
Killed was Roel Castro, 34, of Barangay Azucena, North Upi.
He died on the spot after he was thrown from his motorcycle and landed on the cemented road few meters away from the collision site, reports said.
Seven passengers of the van were also injured during the accident.
Reports said the van, driven by Melvin Laude Betuldez, was over speeding while maneuvering a downhill stretch of the North Upi road.
When the van hit Castro's motorcycle, it plunged into a six-foot ravine.
Reports said Castro was on his way to the Poblacion of North Upi when the accident took place.
Betuldez told traffic investigators he lost control of his vehicle after it crashed into Castro's motorbike.
Injured were identified as Jun-Jun Durande, 20; Bai Puti Lauban Latip, 50; Faisa Guiabar, 24; Intan Dapbil, 70; Abutazil Tato, 80; and Evelyn Remasin, 29, who were rushed to the Datu Blah Sinsuat Hospital in Datu Blah, Maguindanao.
