Maranon wants result from Opapp

NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said that he wants result from the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (Opapp) pertaining to the closure agreement between the government and the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Bongcayao Brigade (RPA-ABB).

Marañon made the statement in reaction to reports that Opapp Sec. Teresita Deles is coming to the province to meet with the governor.

"That's good that she is coming but I hope that she will bring the good news," Marañon said.

The governor, the other day, scored Opapp for making promises on the signing of the closure agreement with RPA would take place last year.

He explained that he wants the signing so that the members of the RPA in the province would benefit from the livelihood assistance and other projects to be extended by the national government which is stipulated in the agreement.

Vice Gov. Eugenio Lacson said that he supports the call of Marañon to the Opapp to fasttrack the signing of the closure agreement with the RPA-ABB.

“The peace agreement with the RPA-ABB we all know has been ongoing for several years now , we all want this to push through, any delay is crucial, so it is proper for the Governor to call their attention” Lacson said.

He added that “we all want a closure for this peace process and hopefully there will be a closure.”

Lacson added that there is a need to fast track the signing of the closure agreement because “all of us want peace”.
