Utzurrum: Shakey’s and a mart for the family

SHAKEY'S lives forever!

Remember the pizzas we loved 40 years ago? Well, they’re still around and very much so! Now though, they’re served in a brand new stand-alone restaurant located in the heart of the city. That’s along F. Cabahug St., a bigger and better place!

For conferences, birthday parties etc., guests have the luxury of a function room. The main dining area can easily accommodate 140 persons. “Not only that,” says president and managing director Allen Arvin Tan of Gryffinhouse Inc., exclusive franchisee of Shakey’s in Cebu City, “We have a full service bar area, where patrons can watch sports events, while enjoying their pizzas.”

Have you tried all 18 flavors of the world’s famous thin crust pizza? Here are some best sellers: Manager’s Choice, Friday Special, Angus Steakhouse and Belly Buster, among others.

And why a stand-alone store? President and chief executive officer Vicente L. Gregorio of International Family Food Service Inc., the company behind Shakey’s Phil., shares this: “People are more discerning when it comes to dining. With stiffer competition, we continue to find better ways to serve our guests. A stand-alone store with homey and spacious interiors provides that experience.”

Celebrate good times and great memories. Only at Shakey’s!

Gear up for a bit of Japanese convenience in Cebu!

Japan’s FamilyMart opened its doors to Cebuanos with not one, not two, but five outlets simultaneously. Three at eBloc Towers 1, 2 and 3 at Cebu IT Park, Streetscape at Maria Luisa Park in Banilad, and Arc One at Capitol Square on Escario St.

Venue for the electrifying celebration was at the eBloc 2 store at the events area of Cebu IT Park, with the sound of the traditional taiko drum especially flown in, followed by the Kagami Biraki—or sake barrel lid breaking rite—which literally means, “opening the mirror,” to bring good luck and fortune.

VIPs who graced the grand opening wore the attractive Happi coat, among them: Japan FamilyMart managing director and managing executive officer for the international business division Masaaki Kosaka, Japan FamilyMart head consultant Hidenori Tsunematsu, Ayala Land Inc. head of corporate planning Meimei Bauzon, Philippines FamilyMart CVS Inc. president Anton Huang, general manager Ed Paredes, Family Table Inc. president Allen Arvin Tan and vice president for strategic partnership and product development Jay Ong.

Savor tasty Japanese cuisine like sushi, onigiri and ramen. The fresh-n-lite line promotes a healthy lifestyle without sacrificing flavor and features brown rice meals, pasta and veggies. Top this off with the signature offering: the one-and-only twirl-all-you-can soft serve ice cream in green tea and black sesame flavors.

In the Philippines, FamilyMart has over 100 branches. This Japanese-owned convenience store is one of the largest in the world with over 16,000 branches in eight countries, including the Philippines, China, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and the USA.
