Tarlac's 1st model police station inaugurated

GERONA, Tarlac — Shortly after the celebration of 142nd birth anniversary of General Francisco Macabulos held at the Tarlac Police Provincial Office, a newly constructed model police station -- the very first in the province --located along Namkwang Road, Barangay Abagon this town, was inaugurated.

Provincial Police Director Alfred Corpus, guests and other participants trooped to this town to witness the said inauguration rites.

The event was graced by no less than former PNP chief Nicanor Ancheta Bartolome, a true son of Gerona, who said that what he did after his retirement was go back to his hometown and do the best for Gerona town.

The former top brass emphasized the old adage “Ang hindi lumingon sa pinanggalingan, hindi makararating sa paroroonan,” citing that this is the only saying he always remembers because his parents instilled it in his mind since he was a boy.

In his message, he mentioned that the event, which coincided with the celebration of Macabulos Day, is very significant to the lives of Tarlaqueños because they have a son who showed genuine patriotism when he led the revolutionary movement against the Spanish regime in 1896.

“Mahalaga ang araw na ito para sa mga Tarlaqueño kaya natutuwa naman ako dahil ipinagpatuloy ng mga sumunod sa akin ang naumpisahan nating pagdadaos ng selebrasyon para sa ‘Ama ng Macabulos’ noong ako’y provincial director pa ng Tarlac,” Bartolome said.

According to Bartolome, it was two years ago when he, together with Camp Crame police personnel and local government officials here, including his brother municipal councilor Eufrocino Bartolome, Jr., conducted the groundbreaking rites of this town’s three-storey police station building.

He disclosed that the Gerona police station is one among 42 police stations constructed during his term as PNP chief.

He also extended his gratitude to Paniqui mayor Dhors Rivilla, who was also present during the event, for selling their 918-square meter lot along MacArthur Highway, for the construction of the very first model police station all over the province adding that  his home town deserves to have a first-class police station.

He also lauded Gerona chief of police Supt Ponciano Zafra for maintaining peace and order in this town saying that the police line has to continue their duty and do the best police service for the people.
