THE Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced that "Kaleidoscope World" and "Boy Golden" have been considered as official entries to the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
iACT Production's "Kaleidoscope World" replaces "Be Careful With My Heart," which earlier withdrew from the competition.
"The MMFF Special Selection Committee recommended and chose 'Kaleidoscope World' as the last official entry because it is the next qualified movie among the other contenders," said MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino.
"Kaleidoscope World" is a dance-musical, which pays tribute to the late Master Rapper Francis Magalona.
To recall, Tolentino appealed to Star Cinema to reconsider its decision to pull out the movie version of ABS-CBN's hit morning series but the film outfit remained firm on its decision to pull out from the contest due to the tight schedule of the TV show's cast.
"For a while, I mulled the possibility of opening the final slot to new movies, including 'My Husband’s Lover'. But it is in violation of the existing rules of the MMFF," Tolentino said.
"Kaleidoscope World" is topbilled by Sef Cadayona, Yassi Pressman, Pia Pilapil, and Alma Concepcion.
Meanwhile, "Boy Golden" replaces "My Super Kap" of Senator Bong Revilla to complete the eight entries to this year's MMFF.
Directed by Chito Roño, "Boy Golden" is an action movie starring Laguna Governor ER Ejercito and mega daughter KC Concepcion.
The other official entries to the 2013 MMFF are "My Little Bossings," "Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel," "Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy," "Pagpag," "10,000 Hours," and "San Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir." (Sunnex)
