Aga Muhlach loss in polls ‘a blessing in disguise’

AGA Muhlach said his narrow loss to his opponent in the recent local elections may be a blessing in disguise now that members of Congress are confronted with issues of corruption and funds misuse.

The actor said he doesn't want to be part of the dirty side of the politics and taint his name of wrong-doings.

He said he worked hard for where he is now.

"Kung ganoon pala kadumi ang papasukin ko talaga, ayaw ko. Hindi ako magnanakaw. I’m 44 years old, buong buhay ko I worked hard to where I am right now, baka madamay pa ako," he said during the recent Trade Launch of TV5 at NBC Tent in Taguig City.

"Tao lang tayo. Baka mamaya matukos ka sa ganon tapos ganoon pala ang sistema talaga. Now it’s proven. It’s sad. Dapat ang mga pera na iyon ay napupunta sa tao," he added.

Aga lost the congressional race in Camarines Sur's fourth district against Felix William "Wimpy" Fuentebella by more than 2,000 votes. Fuentebella got 82,834 votes while Aga received 80,629 votes.

Asked about the progress of his election protest at the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal, Aga said: "It's just there. Kung tunay na may batas at walang corruption talaga, it will move."

The actor is currently busy with his travel show "Pinoy Explorer" and the newest game show on TV5, "Let's Ask Pilipinas."

"I'm really looking forward to starting it (game show) and also for the new episodes of 'Pinoy Explorer.' I'm really happy with how things are going with TV5. It's going to be nice. I have this on weekdays, so it's gonna be different for me," he said.

Now that he's back on television, the actor said he prefers doing hosting jobs and sitcoms than drama. He said he'll only do serious acting in movies.

"Ayaw ko kasing gumawa ng soap talaga. Mas gusto ko yung sitcom, hosting. Ang drama kasi, I’ll leave that sa pelikula talaga. I love the movie industry, so iiwan ko iyon doon," he said.

"As much as possible, sa movies lang. Ang dami nang offers sa akin, even with ABS-CBN before, that’s why I left. Sabi ko nga, if iyon na lang ang gagawin ko, sabi ko, ‘I cannot.’ Plus, I don’t wanna do TV drama, hindi ako naniniwala. Parang kulang. Iba (pag sa) pelikula," he ended. (Sunnex)
