Juan dela Cruz will hit the big screen

QUEZON CITY -- With only few days left before its long-awaited finale on October 25, the lead star of the ABS-CBN's highest-rating action-packed fantaserye said Juan Dela Cruz will also hit the big screen.

The early announcement was made by the fantaserye's lead actor Coco Martin, in a blogger's conference held at the ABS-CBN Thursday.

Although, there's no telling as to how soon they can start filming for its movie version, Martin said it may take place sometime next year.

"Siguro after nito, medyo kung nakaluwag-luwag na, na-finalize na yung script, at lahat ng kailangan gawin for production, tsaka pa namin masasabi kung kailan talaga ang shooting at kailan ito maipapalabas," he said. "Baka pwede next year."

Earlier, Martin said the movie was supposedly planned to hit the big screens first, but there were changes in the plans and aired it rather in the primetime of ABS-CBN, which the entire production team did not go wrong in coming up with such a decision since Juan Dela Cruz became the name of every household in the country today, most especially among the kids who idolize the modern day Pinoy superhero.

With the popularity the fantaserye has earned for the past months, the soon-to-be launched movie version of Juan Dela Cruz will surely be a hit, or even surpass its present mark.

The story of Juan Dela Cruz, which premiered on February 4, 2013, began when Amelia (Taga-Bantay), played by Mylene Dizon, fell in love with Samuel Alejandro, "Haring Aswang" (Albert Martinez).

However, due to the long-standing conflict between humans and the "aswangs," Amelia, guardian of the humans, and Samuel, parted ways.

As a result of their short-lived romance, Amelia bore her first child, and not long, gave birth to a baby boy who will be torn with his fate as the "taga-bantay" and "anak ng dilim."

Juan was taken care of by a Roman Catholic priest, Father Cito, who, before his death, tried to keep the young Juan from discovering who his father is and raised him in Catholic beliefs.

But, no secrets are kept secret forever. He soon learned that his father was no less than the king of his enemies and the enemies of his predecessors. For Samuel, Juan was destined to rule over the "aswangs," which he vehemently tried to fight against, as he wanted to remain living a life of a human being and continue his affair with Rosario (Erich Gonzales).

Juan is now coming to terms with his own father, but he cannot forever denounce his other persona that is forcibly creeping out of him, whom he cannot take full control with.

Which fate will Juan choose? Will he remain the guardians of the humans and continue battling out the aswangs with the "bakal na krus" or choose his fate as the "anak ng dilim" and rule over the human race?
