108 barangays submerged in flood

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Typhoon Santi has left at least 108 barangays flooded in 12 municipalities in Pampanga.

Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Angelina Blanco, in her report, said hundreds of families are now temporarily staying at established evacuation centers in the province.

Meanwhile, the PDRRMO also disclosed that rampaging floodwaters overtopped a portion of the Minalin Tail Dike, causing damages to the said flood control structure.

The Bungang Guinto River in between barangays San Antonio and San Lorenzo in Mexico town also overflowed.

The municipal engineer in the town of Sta. Ana likewise reported that the Matubig Creek along the Sta. Ana-Maglang Road overflowed, and water went to the neighboring communities.

The PDRRMO is consistently coordinating with various MDRRMOs relating to the monitoring of various river channels in the province.

The local government units were advised to undertake precautionary measures to initiate preemptive evacuation in low-lying barangays, particularly those in the coastal municipalities.
