A MEMBER of the Philippine Army was shot and wounded in a remote village of Zamboanga del Sur, police reported Wednesday.
The Zamboanga del Sur Police Office reported that the incident took place around 8 p.m. Tuesday at Purok 3 in the village of Bag-Ong Oroquieta, Guipos municipality.
Police identified the victims as Private First Class Botz Malalis, who is assigned with the Bravo Company of the 53rd Infantry Battalion.
Investigation showed that the victim was in Purok 3 of Bag-Ong Oroquieta village when two unidentified gunmen appeared and shot the victim, the police said.
The victim sustained two gunshot wounds and was rushed to Zamboanga Del Sur Medical Center for medical treatment.
Responding policemen recovered from the crime scene two empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol.
Investigation continue in a bid to unmask the suspects, the police said.
