NDRRMC: Quake death toll up to 222

MANILA -- The number of deaths from the October 15 magnitude 7.2 quake in Central Visayas rose to 222 as of Wednesday morning, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.

According to the NDRRMC's 6 a.m. update, the most recent fatalities were from Sevilla and Loon in Bohol.

It said the number of injured rose to 797, including 692 from Bohol alone.

Eight are still missing, the NDRRMC said.

Meanwhile, the NDRRMC said 3,066 aftershocks had been recorded as of 6 a.m. Of these, 84 were felt.

Meanwhile, the cost of damage already breached the P2-billion mark as it already amounted to P2.203 billion as of Wednesday morning, P1.383 billion came from Bohol alone. (JK/Sunnex)
