Ulas bypass road in Davao completed by April 2016

THE second Davao City Diversion Road Extension project, which is aimed to decongest worsening traffic condition, is expected to be completed in April 2016.

The 2.6-kilometer bypass road started its construction in May of this year.

“We expect for this project to be completed on April 2016 if flawless ang process ng construction,” Dean I. Ortiz, DPWH regional public information officer said in an interview with Sun.Star Davao.

The P190-million road will extend to Toril, Bangkal-Talomo-Puan section.

It is one of the projects under the DPWH regular infrastructure project.

It will be located above the present Davao-Toril Highway and will necessitate the construction of a bridge upstream of Talomo River beside the Coca Cola Plant.

Ortiz said the road will cross the Davao-Bukidnon Highway just above Ulas at a point where the new San Pedro College site and the Maligaya Subdivision are located.

It will continue southward to connect to the old Davao-Cotabato Road in Puan.

This is the road that connects to Lubogan in Toril area.

However, Ortiz said that at present they are confronted with road-right-of-way (RROW) problems and the mushrooming of the illegal settlers in the project site.

It was suspended on June 8, 2015 as the difficulties in the negotiation for the acquisition of RROW and the obstruction of such as public utilities and telecommunication posts arise.

“But measures are now being undergone to stick with the project timeline,” Ortiz added.
