(Updated, 11:56 a.m.) AS THE Philippines brace for Typhoon Yolanda's landfall which is expected on Friday early morning, various local government units and schools nationwide have declared class suspensions.
Based on a Department of Education memorandum, classes in preschool and kindergarten are automatically suspended in areas under Public Storm Warning Signal (PSWS) Number 1.
As of 11:00 a.m. Thursday, these areas are under Signal Number 1:

-Camarines Sur
-Catanduanes
-Albay
-Mindoro Provinces
-Burias Island
-Romblon
-Marinduque
-Calamian Group of Island
- Southern Quezon

Afternoon classes in all levels until Friday in Romblon are also cancelled. Afternoon work in government offices in the province until November 8 excluding those directly involved in disaster response.
Classes in all levels in Catbalogan City, Samar until November 8 are also suspended. The LGU also cancelled afternoon work in government offices until November 8.
