4Ps scholars share lessons on perseverance, faith

FOUR scholars of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program said perseverance, faith and a helping hand from the government enabled them to reach their dream of a college education.

The four, all students from Benguet State University, shared their experiences during a forum on 4Ps at BSU.

Jenny Remiendo of Bakun, Benguet, who graduated last April with a Bachelor in Elementary Education major in pre-school education degree, is set to take the teachers board exam later this month.

“This government scholarship program is a very big help for me to pursue my dream. I wish to teach young children as I believe that whatever knowledge and values I will teach them, they will carry till they grow old. At the same time having work will also be a big help for our family,” Remiendo said.

Jimmy Carbonilla of Tayum, Abra and Claudia Daligsig of Tabuk City, Kalinga are both in third year in BS Education major in Biology.

“Poverty is not a hindrance to our dream,” Carbonilla said, as he advised his fellow scholars not to waste the opportunity given to them by government and to use their talent to reach their dream and help their families.

Daligsig called for government and public support to the youth.

“We need your prayers and support for us to reach our dream,” she said.

Bernard Dayawen of Sabangan, Mountain Province, a Bachelor of Science Applied Statistics student, advised his fellow scholars to work hard to graduate so that eventually they can find a decent job.

There are 1,279 4Ps scholars enrolled in different state universities and colleges in the Cordillera region. (CD)
