PHL shows nominated in Asian TV Awards

LOCAL Filipino television programs and performances were nominated in the 2013 Asian Television Awards (ATA).

Queen of All Media Kris Aquino was nominated as Best Entertainment host for her morning talk show "Kris TV."

The presidential sister will compete against Oli Pettigrew of "Kids vs Film" from Singapore, Krit Sripoomseth ("Fan Pan Tae") and Phanya Nirunkul of "Ching Roi Ching Larn Sunshing Day" from Thailand and "Jobs Around the World" host Bryan Wong from Singapore.

Kapuso primetime queen Marian Rivera and seasoned actress Lorna Tolentino both received ATA nods for their performances in "Temptation of Wife" and "Pahiram ng Sandali," respectively.

Both actors were nominated in Best Actress in Leading Role category.

Comedian Michael V on the other hand is nominated in Best Comedy Performance by an Actor/Actress for "Bubble Gang" while reality talent search. "The X Factor Philippines" of ABS-CBN, meanwhile, will try to bag the Best Reality Show trophy.

In the news category, GMA Network received a total of four ATA nominations.

"24 Oras" and "Saksi" were both nominated in the Best News Program category for their television coverage of Typhoon Pablo.

"Reporters Notebook" will go head-to-head against shows from Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan and Singapore in the Best Current Affairs Program Award while "Born Impact" is nominated in the Best Natural History or Wildlife Program.

Launched in 1996, ATA is an annual event that recognizes Asian television's excellent programs, productions and performances.

This year's Award Ceremony and Gala Dinner will be held on December 5 at Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore. (Sunnex)
