NBI nabs Dutch for child abuse

A DUTCH man was arrested in Opol town in Misamis Oriental on Friday on suspicion of sexually abusing minors.

Jourke Mulder was naked when he was arrested in his house in Barangay Poblacion, Angelito Magno, National Bureau of Investigation regional director for Northern Mindanao, said in an interview by phone Tuesday.

He said he was naked because he was just about to take a bath.

In the house with Mulder were two minors and his Filipino wife.

Magno said the NBI got a tip from the Interpol that a foreigner who abuses minors was residing in Misamis Oriental.

He said Mulder, who has been residing in Opol for more than five years, was convicted for offenses against children and illegal drugs cases in the Netherlands.

"We conducted surveillance and we investigated, then we found out na naa  gyuy nagpuyo na menor-de-edad with the alleged pedophile, na kauban pa gyud niya matulog, tapos sa other room of the house, didto pud gatulog ang wife niya," Magno said.

He said the NBI agents found fake documents, including birth certificates of the two minors indicating that they were his wife's daughters.

"Pag-umangkon ra sa wife ang mga bata, dili niya anak," Magno said.

Also recovered from Mulder's house were sleeping pills allegedly used for the children, a computer and nude pictures of the minors taken while they were sleeping.

Magno said a medical examination on the girls showed that they sexually abused.

Mulder went through the inquest proceedings at the Provincial Prosecutor's Office while his wife was detained at the provincial jail.

Mulder faces charges of human trafficking, child abuse, and falsifying public documents.

The two girls are in the custody of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development's (PSWD).
