3 robbery suspects nabbed

POLICE arrested three robbery suspects in Barangay Bago Oshiro in Tugbok District, Davao City on Saturday.

The suspects were identified as Marlon Emnasen Soquillo, 31, a coconut tree climber, of Tugbok District; Noli Calinawan Mangundale, 28, a coconut climber, of Barangay Oshiro; and Jessie Panganuran Bernales, 36, of Mati in Davao Oriental.

Initial investigation conducted by Tugbok police showed that the suspects were arrested around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, after they were caught harvesting coconut fruits at the ranch owned by Jerry Melgarejo.

Police said the caretaker named Alex Reyes Rivera entrusted the ranch and instructed the suspects to take care of the trees. But when Rivera returned, the suspects already took the coconut fruits that prompted him to call for police assistance.

Personnel of the Tugbok police arrived in the area and saw the suspects still on top of the coconut trees. The police arrested three suspects and recovered from their possession coconuts worth P2,500.

Recovered also from the suspect were a roll of yellow nylon, one unit of Rusi motorcycle bearing plate number 2182-QV, and a small bolo. The suspects are now detained at the Tugbok Police Station.

The police will file on Monday theft charges against the suspects before the City Prosecutor’s Office. (ICT)
