Raps vs illegal recruiter yet to be filed

POLICE have yet to file charges against a man who swindled a nurse before the Davao City Prosecutor’s Office.

Police Officer 3 Ruben Corsino, Buhangin police investigator, identified the suspect as Carlo A. Donaki, 24, a resident of Pampanga Homes in Lanang, Davao City. He was arrested in an entrapment operation on November 30.

Records from the police showed the suspect was arrested following the complaint of the victim identified as Kristine Marie Bayona Serafin, 23, a nurse, resident of Dumanlas, Davao City.

Based on initial investigation, the suspect demanded P15,000 once more from the victim for the processing fee abroad. The victim earlier handed Donaki P35,000 for the supposed documents needed.

Personnel of the Buhangin Police Station, under the command of Superintendent Ruben Ramos, with the complainant proceeded to Mt. Carmel in Dumanlas at 8:30 p.m. for the entrapment operation.

The suspect arrived at the victim’s house onboard a cab. He was arrested after he agreed that an iPad Mini instead of cash will be paid to him.

Recovered from his possession was an iPad Mini worth P20,000.

Donaki is now detained at the Buhangin Police Station while the police are preparing the documents needed in filing the charges. Police said the suspect will be charged with illegal recruitment and swindling.
