Miss Earth 2013 candidates visit Bacolod

FIFTEEN candidates of the Miss Earth 2013 pageant visited Sunday the Campuestohan Highland Resort in Talisay City, Bacolod where they held a photo shoot and a tree planting activity.

Former Assistant Secretary Ricardo Tan of the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) and owner of Campuestohan Highland Resort, said the visit of Miss Earth candidates would be able to gain international recognition to his resort.

Tan said the area, where the 15 Miss Earth beauties planted trees, would be called the "Miss Earth Orchard" and will be an added attraction to the resort.

Most of the Miss Earth beauties had their pictures taken at the replica of Kingkong and a giant panda.

Tan said the tourism can help soften the impact of the imposition of the lowest tariff on imported sugar in year 2015.

The Miss Earth 2013 candidates returned to Manila on Sunday as preparation for the pageant night on December 7 at the Versailles Palace in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

This year's edition is aligned with "The International Year of Water Cooperation."

The 15 candidates were Diana Ortegón (Colombia), Natalia Lermanda (Chile), Sofiya Chorniy (Canada), Mariya Makater (Crimea), Archangela Garcia (Curacao), Ana María Weir (Ecuador), Marie Miller (Nigeria), Vera Krneta Bosnia and Herzegovina Ashanti Mbanga (South Africa), Lucia Slaninkova (Slovak Republic), Nela Zisser (New Zealand), Christelle Abrantes (Reunion Island), Vanessa Hee (Singapore), Rani Charles (Martinique), and Angelee Delos Reyes (Philippines).

The candidates also held a fashion show and photo shoot at the Baywalk Entertainment Place, and visited May's Garden.
