ILOILO City Councilor RLeone Geroche, new transport committee chair, said he is pushing for a general house cleaning of the Traffic Management and Transport Regulation Office (TMRO).
Geroche will soon sit with TMTRO chief Donna Acap to discuss and lay down the ground rules on performance, responsibility and accountability of TMTRO members.
Geroche said he is encouraging the TMTRO to be more proactive in doing its mandated function to serve the people of Iloilo City.
But he said an elected local official like him must not be given an executive function, such as to lead the implementation of traffic ordinances on the streets.
He said he is also eyeing an agreement with the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board and the Land Transportation Office regarding illegal parking and clamping of wheels of illegally parked vehicles and those parked on sidewalks. (LCP)
