Barotac Viejo high school tops Capitol lantern contest

BAROTAC Viejo National High School bagged this year’s first place award and P12,000 in cash prize in the “Basura Mo E-Parol Mo: On-the-Spot Lantern Making” competition conducted by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (Penro).

Second place went to Leganes National High School, which received a cash prize of P10,000, while the third place went to Cabatuan National High School with a cash prize of P8,000.

Each group, having five members, created the lanterns using materials provided by the Penro.

Colors brightened the area where the contest proper was being held. Bottles, paper cups and other recyclable materials were painted with bright colors, shaped and carved carefully to produce their creative output.

The contest is a project of the Penro to promote awareness on the usefulness of waste materials that are recyclable. (PR)
