THE Kopiko Astig 3-inOne Supercross Series will end the season in the place where it started—the South Road Properties.
The race that had endeared itself to the adrenaline rush-loving spectators in the Visayas and Mindanao will return to where it began as it formally closes its 2013 Series at the South Reclamation Properties beside St. Pedro Calungsod Shrine on Dec. 21 and 22 with its final race of the season, the 11th Leg.
Last January, the 2013 Series started with a huge bang with Danish riders, including one of the Top 10 riders in the world Nikolaj Larsen, proving to be a class above the Filipino riders.
However, after 10 legs, Larsen is out of the picture and a Filipino rider is most likely to take the Rider of the Year award, which goes to the rider scoring the most points, which they will earn in every race they join the entire year.
Tipped to win this year is the country’s no.1 rider Glen Aguilar, who shook off strong challenges from Cebuano Jon-Jon Adlawan and Davaoeño Rhowell “Burnok” Mangusong IV, following his back-to-back victories in the last two legs.
Aguilar’s victory put a sizable distance that made him forerunner in the Pro Open Category and the Rider of the Year titles.
Aguilar needs to score a huge victory in this last leg because Adlawan and Mangusong are hot on his trail in this race that is organized by Man and Machine Racing Promotions of Jonas Adlawan.
Aside from the Pro Open class, Aguilar, Adlawan and Mangusong are also in a rough battle to win the Pro Elite title.
Right after the race on Dec. 22 will be the awarding rites that will be held in Sarrosa Hotel.
