CSC to award certificates of passers

THE CIVIL Service Commission–Cordillera will hold the mass awarding of certificates of eligibility to passers of the October 13 exam on December 19 in Baguio City.

The mass awarding of certificates will be at 2 p.m. at the PFVR gymnasium, Upper Session Road, near the Department of Education District Office of Baguio City. Passers are advised to bring their application receipts with picture and valid ID card.

The commission conducted the Civil Service Exam-Paper and Pencil Test (CSE-PPT) also known as Career service examination in 143 testing sites nationwide with 86 percent taking the professional level with the rest taking the sub professional level

In Cordillera, CSC’s Examination Division Chief Ronald Buen earlier said the two types of exam were conducted in four testing centers namely Baguio City; Bangued, Abra; Lagawe, Ifugao; and Luna, Apayao. He revealed 901 passed the professional level out of 5,705 examinees while 199 passed the sub professional level from the 1,356 examinees. He added the passing rate of the region is 15.79 percent for professional while 14.67 percent for sub professional.

Prior to October 13 exam, an earlier test was also conducted in April 14 wherein 4,369 passed the professional level while 1,076 made it to the passers’ list for sub professional. The passing rate for this earlier exam is higher than the recent examination last October.

CSC–Cordillera Regional Director Marilyn Taldo earlier explained the CSE-PPT is a general ability test designed to measure an individual’s preparedness to enter government service.

There are two levels of CSE-PPT, for the professional and sub-professional. Three-hour test for the professional level includes vocabulary, grammar and correct usage, paragraph organization, reading comprehension, analogy, logic, and numerical reasoning (English and Filipino). For the latter, exam coverage is almost the same with the inclusion of clerical operations instead of analogy and logic and timed for 2.5 hours.

Questions for both examination levels include general information on the Philippine Constitution, the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, peace and human rights issues and concepts, and environment management and protection. (Rubyloida Bitog)
