Speed limit violators apprehended nears 200

THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Traffic Group has apprehended a total of 172 violators of the speed limit since December 3.

DCPO-Traffic Group head Supt. Rhodelio Poliquit told reporters in an interview that they arrested 35 violators on December 3 and 15 on the following day. On December 5, DCPO-Traffic Group, in coordination with the Traffic Management Center (TMC), nabbed 30 violators and 15 on December 6.

On December 9, 23 were arrested while 12 were collared the following day. Eight violators were arrested on December 11 while 16 were apprehended on December 12. Nine violators were arrested both on December 13 and last Monday.

Poliquit said that despite utilizing only five speed guns, they were able to reach a high number of arrested violators.

The Traffic Group head also reminded the public that they should observe the speed limits which vary from 30 kilometers per hour (kph), 40 kph and 60 kph.

Poliquit said areas that will follow the 30 kph speed limit are J.P Laurel Ave. Alcantara to Bolton/Generoso Bridge, from Buhangin Crossing-Milan to Bolton/Generoso Bridge, from C.P Garcia Highway-Bacaca Road to Bolton/Generoso Bridge, and from C.P Garcia Highway-Angliongto St. to Bolton/Generoso Bridge.

Vehicles travelling along Ulas to Generoso Bridge/Bolton Bridge, from Panacan Crossing to J.P Laurel Avenue-Alcantara, and from Ma-a Road Diversion to McArthur Highway are also ordered to maintain their maximum speed to 40 kph.

The 60 kph speed limit, meanwhile, should be strictly observed from Sirawan to Ulas Crossing, from Lasang to Panacan, from Calinan to Ulas Crossing, and from C.P Gracia Highway-McArthur Highway to Panacan.

Poliquit added that violators will be charged for violation of Executive Order No. 39 signed by Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. Erring motorists will be given a temporary operator's permit which they will have to settle with the Land Transportation Office. (Ruji Peter S. Abat/Sun.Star Davao)
