Duterte: Poe-Escudero team 'excellent'

DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said that Senator Grace Poe and Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero's tandem as president and vice president for the next year's election is an excellent one.

Duterte, in a media interview Thursday evening, said: "Excellent, excellent tandem, gwapo, experienced politician si Chiz and si Grace naman will provide the ascendancy."

Senator Grace Poe on Thursday announced that Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero will be her runningmate for the 2016 national elections.

Meanwhile, Duterte also said that anyone of them who pursues the presidential seat for the 2016 elections can be a good president if they want.

"Everyone of them can be a good president kung gusto talaga nila, kung ginusto nila to excel wala man tayong masabi dun," Duterte said.

Duterte also said that anybody among the presidentiables may manage to carry the torch of federalism.

"If one will embrace it with passion, I think everybody should be able to do it," Duterte said.

He, however, said nobody can judge the presidential candidates' reportedly hollow promises on solving peace for Mindanao.

"That remains to be seen, if there is a promise, I hope that they would honor it," Duterte said.

Last Wednesday in Poe's declaration speech, she cited peace process as one of her priorities placing it as 10th out of the 20 things she wished to pursue when she becomes president.
