TWO members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) were killed in an attack staged by suspected the New People's Army (NPA) rebels in Poblacion, Cortes, Surigao del Sur Friday morning.
According to a report by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) in Surigao del Sur, some 40 heavily-armed rebels waited for the victims' mobile patrol to pass by near Cortes Police Station and strafed it, killing the police officers and left others injured.
As of Firday evening, the side of the NPA on the incident was not yet obtained.
Police in Caraga Region and the 36th Infantry Battalion of the Philippines Army are still conducting investigations on the incident. (With PIA)
