China-bound plane overshoots Kalibo airport runway

ALL 144 passengers were safe after a China-bound Airbus A320 plane of Zest Air overshoot the runway Kalibo International Airport on Thursday.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said that a notice to airman (Notam) was issued at 3:51 p.m., closing airport until 6 p.m.

Zest Air flight Z2058 was taking off at the airport runway when it skidded off during a 180 degree turn around at 3:44 p.m.

The flight was supposedly bound for Pudong, China.

Affected flights due to the airport closure are: Seair Flight 7056 from Manila to Kalibo that returned at 4:00pm at Manila; Cebu Pacific flight 5J 343; Zest Air Z2 272; PAL Express flight 2P975 and Seair flight 740 from Clark to Kalibo.

CAAP has sent already investigation team to determine the cause of the incident. (Sunnex)
