Yearender: ‘Psychopathic hypersexualized serial womanizer’ and many more

QUOTABLE quotes are not limited to movie scenes, as the political and entertainment scene in the Philippines would show.

2013 is among the most colorful years in terms of piercing words and notable statements. Some even made it to the netizens’ collection of memes.

To refresh your memory of the best quotes this year, Sunnex Manila team has collated a few:

Janet Lim-Napoles

Businesswoman Janet Napoles on her participation in the alleged pork barrel scam: “I don’t know. I invoke my right against self-incrimination.”

Try to count the number of times she said those words.

Quotes on PDAF

Sharon Cuneta referring to former senator Kiko Pangilinan: “If anyone reading this can prove to me that my husband has stolen any amount from his PDAF in his 12 years as senator, I will give you P10 million in cash and I will leave my husband. That is how confident I am.”

Representative Lani Mercado, “Basta huwag po kayong manghihingi sa amin.”

Yolanda-induced statements

Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla: “Do you want my position if I don’t make December 24? You will have it. If I make it December 25, then I’ll submit my resignation if that is what you want.”

Tacloban Mayor Alfred Romualdez referring to Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas: “He answered me: ‘You have to remember: we have to be very careful because you are a Romualdez and the president is an Aquino.’”

Korina Sanchez: “Itong si Anderson Cooper, sabi wala raw government presence sa Tacloban. Mukhang di niya alam ang sinasabi niya.”

To which, Anderson Cooper said the following day, “Miss Sanchez is welcome to go there (Tacloban) and I would urge her to go there. I don’t know if she has but her husband’s the Interior minister. I’m sure he can arrange a flight.”

Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago during the question and answer portion: “The whole world saw how my country suffered. One by one, other countries helped. You have opened my heart and eyes on what we can do to help each other. I will work to sustain the spirit of sympathy and spirit of hope. As long as we work together, there is hope.”

Megalomania galore

Makati Mayor Junjun Binay: “Hindi mo ba ako kilala?”

Anne Curtis, during an altercation in a posh club, “I can buy you, your friends, and this club!”

According to reports Curtis slapped actor John Lloyd Cruz while she berated Phoemela Barranda with the mentioned quote. In a television interview with Barranda, the model denied that Curtis uttered those word to her.

From the President

During his State of the Nation Address, President Benigno Aquino III said, “Saan po kayo humuhugot ng kapal ng mukha?”

Enrile vs Santiago saga

Senator Juan Ponce Enrile during a privilege speech on November 27, “I was advised to ignore what was said about me because of the abusive words from a cuckoo, an insane, bitterly hostile mind.”

Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago caught everyone’s attention when she started to use “pick-up lines” in her speeches. But this lady senator is more than just snappy responses to pick up lines. Indeed, she’s this year’s most quotable person.

“Baka ipapatay ka pa. Gantihan mo na habang buhay ka pa,” Santiago said in one of her attempts to convince Janet Napoles to spill the beans on the alleged pork barrel scam. The senator made the appeal in a Senate hearing on November 7.

“Feel free to compare my resume to Enrile, since my biography appears in Wikipedia,” said Santiago in a privilege speech on December 4 in response to Senator Juan Ponce Enrile’s criticism of her legal expertise.

In the same speech, Santiago felt Enrile should be the one who should see a psychiatrist: "Enrile with his eternal philandering and unexplained wealth desperately needs a shrink. His mind is sick, sick, sick! Sick!"

"He is a psychopathic hypersexualized serial womanizer,” Santiago added. (Sunnex)
