College games

Meanwhile, the UC Cebu Webmasters kept alive their hopes of making the final four of the college division following an exhausting 82-75 win over the defending champions Southwestern University Cobras in the collegiate match yesterday.

The lone college match will be between this year’s title favorites the USC Warriors and the UV Green Lancers in the 5:30 pm. Game.

The Webmasters made a jack-rabbit start behind the efforts of Eldred Montilla, who fired nine points and Filvenson Culango, who added four points that paved the way to a dominating start.

As the Cobras continued to struggle, UC had a fluid game that put them ahead by 20 points, 64-44, at the 5:04 mark of the third period.

However, the Webmasters became too cocky while the Cobras were focused and held UC without a basket until the end of the third period while scoring 18 points to move within 60-64.

UC however, regained composure as Garciano Puerto Jr., Clint Suelto and Joseph Mayol gave the Webmaster a comfortable lead that SWU failed to overcome the rest of the way.

Fatigue evidently settled in for the Cobras who missed all its free throw attempts in the final period.

Suelto topscored for UC with 17 and Montilla and Justine Dacalos added 11 points each as UC improved to 4-6, while reigning MVP Jayven Mark Tallo scored the game-high 30 points for SWU’s fourth loss in 11 games.
