Two ex-world champions battle patsies

TWO former world titleholders will be featured in a small boxing show this Saturday in Mandaluyong City.

Former World Boxing Council flyweight champion Sonny Boy Jaro and one-time International Boxing Federation (IBF) mini-flyweight king Florante Condes are looking to end their string of losses this Saturday.

The 31-year-old Jaro looks to end a three-fight losing streak against Pit Anacaya in a 12-rounder for the vacant Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) super flyweight belt.

The ABF is a new minor boxing sanctioning body.

Jaro captured the WBC flyweight title two years ago with one of the biggest upsets of 2012. He dropped Thai legend Pongsaklek Wonjongkam, arguably the best in the 112-pound division that time, four times before the referee waved the bout in the sixth round.

However, since that win Jaro has never won a fight, losing his title on the same year to Toshiyuki Igarashi. He also lost to Hiroyuki Hisataka and Cebuano Gerpaul Valero.

Anacaya’s last victory was in 2009 and he has lost 15 fights in a row.

Jaro is 34-13-5 with 24 knockouts, while Anacaya has a measly record of 8-22-2.

Condes, on the other hand, ends a long layoff to face patsy Rey Morano in the undercard.

Condes has lost three straight fights and has not seen action for over a year.

Condes is 25-8-1 with 21 knockouts, while Morano is 8-38-1 with a lone knockout win. Moncaya has lost 12 of his last 13 fights.
