Joysan Cup finals set Jan. 12

MONTAÑA Pawnshop will battle against Goldstar Hardware when the Joysan Cup 55's Basketball Tournament championship unfurls on January 12 at the Montaña Recreation and Fitness Center in Agdao, Davao City.

Ching and Hardwork will vie for the third place in the league that will give away cash prizes and trophies to the winners.

The champion will bag P5,000 while the runner-up will get P3,000 and the next two placers will receive P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.

Medals will also be awarded to the mythical five and Most Valuable Player (MVP).

In an interview with Sun.Star Davao, tournament director Eddie Sandoval said the event was organized to encourage physical fitness among basketball enthusiasts who are already in their 50's.

"I initiated this tournament because it is a fact that when people get older, running and other physical activities become difficult. This tournament has made a big impact to the players in terms of agility and I am happy to see this improvement," Sandoval said.

Sandoval also thanked Mr. Armando Quibod, owner of Montaña Recreation and Fitness Center for the support. (MDC)
