A MAN was brutally killed while a public utility jeepney (PUJ) driver is in critical condition in two separate shooting incidents in Davao City Sunday.

The incident that incurred a casualty took place at Purok 9, South By, Barangay Lapu-Lapu, Agdao around 2:40 p.m. Sunday.

Sta. Ana police identified the slain victim as Emedio Suazo Bacitez, 30, married and self-employed while the suspect was identified as Jommel Dalita.

Bacitez was rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) but died as he was hit by bullet thrice in the head.

Recovered from the crime scene were seven fired cartridges and one deformed slug of caliber .38 pistol.

Police are conducting a manhunt operation against the gunman.

The other shooting incident happened at Sitio Bula, Catalunan Grande around 1 a.m. Sunday. The victim was identified as Edgar Imbalsado Rosima, a 47-year-old jeepney driver.

Based on the investigation of Talomo police, the victim, along with his wife Marcelina, was sleeping at their house when they were awakened after hearing noises from their kitchen. When the victim checked, he saw two unidentified men.

The gunmen then shot the victim several times, hitting him in the different parts of his body. The gunmen fled on foot.

Bacitez was rushed to SPMC where he is scheduled for surgery.

Four empty shells and one slug of caliber .45 pistol were recovered from the crime scene.

Police are yet to identify the motive and identity of the gunmen.
