A chief executive has become frustrated with the garbage collection system, or lack of, in his local government unit. He received several complaints about uncollected trash in the barangays even after the holidays.
To make concerned department heads take notice, the mayor presented pieces of trash at the conference table.
Still not satisfied, the mayor transferred the person he appointed to head the garbage collection and disposal unit to another office.
But an observer asked why the mayor did not also berate the barangay captains, who are primarily responsible for keeping the community clean.
“The barangays have their own garbage trucks. They even get fuel allocation from the local government for those trucks,” said the observer.
