A FAKE policeman extorting money from a businessman was arrested by personnel of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Tuesday.

Police Superintendent Eleazar Matta of Batasan Police Station 6 said the suspect identified as Mark Anthony Verbo, 37, a security guard from Tuguegarao City, Cagayan allegedly introduced himself as "SPO3 Pascual" and demanded a cellphone and money from the businessman Gabriel Zalun, 39, from Quezon City.

"May cellphone shop ang biktima kaya cellphone ang unang hiningi ng suspect para daw sa proteksyon ng negosyo ng biktima tapos pera na ang hiningi nung mga sumunod na punta ng suspect," Matta said.

"SPO3 Pascual" allegedly started harassing Zalun in November 2013.

Zalun doubted the identity of the police after asking money from him couple of times, he then went to the police and reported the incident and found out that there was no "SPO3 Pascual."

Police officers immediately looked for Verbo and caught him.

Recovered from him were .45mm caliber gun, bullets covered by magazines and a fake police ID without licence.

Verbo was detained in Batasan Police Station 6. (Sunnex)
