300 cops to be deployed on Black Nazarene procession

THE Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) will deploy at least 300 police in the procession of the Black Nazarene this afternoon.

Cocpo said these officers would be assigned in strategic areas to strengthen its security measures for the safety of the thousands of devotees who will join the religious parade.

Meanwhile, the 4th Infantry Division (4ID) in Camp Evangelista in Patag has its augmentation force to help the city’s police in securing the city.

4ID spokesman Captain Christian Uy said the military has assigned two teams to augment Cocpo’s explosives and ordnance division (EOD).

There will also be K9 teams and a platoon of soldiers, Uy said.

Uy assured there is no security threat for the religious activity for the thousands of Roman Catholics who are expected to flock to the city to join the feast of the Black Nazarene.

Cocpo also appealed to public to cooperate with authorities especially when they notice suspicious-looking individuals roaming around the activity areas.
