MANY in the various sectors of society have aired their doubts as to whether the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) is really doing its job. The more conservative asked this question as they see that MTRCB has been penalizing the noontime shows for its alleged violations of whatever rules involving language on sex or some sexy parts of the program.

But society is asking MTRCB members what are their roles or feelings about those acts on teleseryes where viewers of all ages every evening could clearly see and feel the slapping on faces, shouting at one another, stories about promiscuity and infidelity, or a mother-actress shouting at their children-actors.

Yes, MTRCB seems not to know what they are supposed to do, insisted a religious lady. All they see and try to censor are those sexy dancers and some words mentioned carelessly by a noontime program host. But those nightly slapping and shouting, and immoral stories, the MTRCB seem inutile, claimed a lady from Barangay Villamonte.
So MTRCB, please check your real purpose.

Cebu Pacific Air opens the skies between Bacolod and Davao this January 25. I talked to my friend former Department of Tourism Region 12 Director Art Boncato, who is now tourism assistant secretary for Mindanao.
ASec Art is one of the best tourism promoters of the city and I told him that I want to fly to Davao to help promote both Davao and Bacolod.

Davao is a tourist destination, now being one of the safest cities in the world. Bacolod could be proud as a food or gastronomic route. Congratulations to Cebu Pacific for this new route and hoping that Negrenses will try to visit the safe city of Davao. Very exciting Davao, indeed.

Bacolod City should be ready as a destination so that DavaoeƱos will keep on flying regularly to Bacolod. Neighbor General Santos City is an Ilonggo dominated city with around 70 percent of its residents being Ilonggos.

I want to see Bacolod City having its own Bacolod Tourism Board composed of able minds in tourism and travel promotions, and not filled with political appointees, neither hotel or resort owners or managers. This way, there will simply be general interest in mind and no vested interests to come into the picture. It is complicated to imagine but effective this way. I could share and tell you why personally. Not in this column.
