KAPAMILYA actress Anne Curtis will play the title role in the upcoming television adaptation of "Dyesebel."
The announcement was made Thursday afternoon in a press conference held at ABS-CBN compound in Quezon City.
The "It's Showtime" host will be joined by ex-boyfriend Sam Milby and Gerald Anderson.
Anne is not new to the mermaid character as she portrayed a similar role in ABS-CBN's 2008 fantasy series "Dyosa." But in the mentioned project, she also played a centaur and a harpy.
Anne said that it's a dream come true for her to play the fictional comic book character created by novelist Mars Ravelo.
Among those who took on the role in the big screen are Vilma Santos (1973), Alice Dixson (1990), and Charlene Gonzales (1996). Marian Rivera, on the other hand, played the role in the GMA 7's television adaptation in 2008. (Sunnex)
