Hundreds to meet on ‘Clark Challenge’

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- More than 200 businessmen, corporate executives, lawmakers and other stakeholders are expected to gather for the "Clark Challenge: Stakeholders' Summit" on January 16 at the Widus Hotel and Convention Center in Clark to craft a common national policy regarding the Freeport's development.

Former Pampanga vice governor and now first district Representative Joseller Guiao will lead the gathering, which seeks to arrive at a united consensus on concrete steps to take in support of President Benigno Aquino III's economic plans for Central Luzon and the whole country as well.

"After the whole-day summit this Thursday, we would have heard our stakeholders' sentiments, inputs and consensus. We would then consolidate these and elevate it to the House of Representatives through a privilege speech I will deliver," Guiao said.

He told Sun.Star Pampanga that it is "very important that the development of Clark Freeport and the Clark International Airport should not be overlooked or left behind."

"Through the summit, we hope to encourage the President to issue or declare a national policy on Clark and its further development, including infrastructure, investments and other related economic activities seen to ripple not only in the region but the whole country as well," Guiao said.
