CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Provincial Government of Pampanga invested millions for infrastructure development in 2013, on top of those poured in during the past two years of Governor Lilia Pineda’s administration.
Acting Provincial Information Officer Joel Mapiles said the Capitol was able to ensure the concreting of some 65 barangay roads pegged at P98,160,155, benefiting residents who now use the paved arteries even during the rainy season.
"Our governor also directed Capitol officials to construct covered courts, barangay halls and multi-purpose buildings worth P54,606,586 to villages without such facilities," he said.
Mapiles said the Provincial Government also allocated P209,987,293 for the improvement of the offices of the Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Pampanga, Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Science and Technology, Provincial Engineer, National Bureau of Investigation, and other units within the Capitol compound.
"Capitol also spent millions for the new 1,000-bed capacity extension of the provincial jail in caring for inmates there," he added.
Mapiles also noted of other infrastructure, which include the P5.7-million 64 bunkhouses for Tropical Storm Ondoy victims in Arayat; the 148 houses for Aeta families worth P14 million in cooperation with the National Housing Authority; the P11 million funding for facilities in Nabuclod, Floridablanca; and the P107,889,200 allocated for barangay vehicles and equipment.
"Bakas sa lalawigan ang malaking pagbabago at pagunlad sa larangan ng pamumuhay ng ating mga mamamayan. Ito ay dahil sa pagpupunyagi ng Administrasyong Pineda na maibigay sa mga Kapampangan ang kailangan nila upang sila ay matiwasay na makapamuhay sa kalinga ng isang pamahalaang maaasahan," said Mapiles.
