City to open new roads

THE City Government of Zamboanga is set to open new roads within the city limits to decongest traffic especially during peak hours, a government official announced.

City Engineer Luis Despalo said the opening of new roads is among the priorities of Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar for this year.

He said Salazar directed them to conduct a survey in areas where the new roads will be opened.

The opening of the new roads, he added, will link the existing roads to the other highways, as follows: Vitaliano Agan Avenue to Veterans Avenue; Veterans Avenue to Climaco Road in the village of Talon-Talon; and Vitaliano Agan Avenue to Governor Ramos Avenue.

Despalo said they will start the survey to determine how many residences will be affected, as well as to study how much the City Government will spend for the road projects.

The funding for the projects would come from the supplemental budget of the city, he said. (Bong Garcia)
