6 reg’l prosecutors promoted

REGIONAL prosecutor Antonio announced that a total of six prosecutors across Davao Region were promoted and appointed to the National Prosecution Service (NPS).

However, he said that despite the recent appointments, NPS-Davao still has several pending applications for promotion/appointment.

Arellano said the fiscals who were promoted are: Atty. Barbara Mae Pagdilao-Flores (from assistant regional prosecutor (Prosecutor II) to deputy regional prosecutor (Prosecutor IV) of the Regional Prosecution Office 11); Atty. Leah Fe C. Carillo-San Juan (from associate prosecution attorney II to deputy city prosecutor (Prosecutor III) of the Office of the City Prosecutor (OCP) of the Island Garden City of Samal); and Atty. Allan P. Temones (from associate prosecution attorney II to associate provincial prosecutor (Prosecutor I) of the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor (OPP) of Davao Oriental).

Meanwhile, those who were appointed to the prosecution service are: Atty. Robert Michael N. Razon (assistant regional prosecutor (Prosecutor II) of the Regional Prosecution Office 11); Atty. Linalou S. Racaza-Veloso (associate provincial prosecutor (Prosecutor I) of OPP-Compostela Valley Province); and Atty. Lennia Y. Moreno-Maduay (assistant provincial prosecutor (Prosecutor II) of OPP-Davao Oriental).

Arellano said the Malacañang promoted and appointed the six on December 16, 2013.

Before the three fiscals were appointed, Arellano said both Razon and Racaza-Veloso were engaged in the private practice of law, while Maduay was connected with the Public Attorney's Office (PAO).

Arellano said the OCP-Davao City, meanwhile, has a vacancy of 13 prosecutor-positions.

"Prior to the appointment of Atty. Racaza-Veloso mentioned-above, all prosecutor-positions for OPP-ComVal, including the position of the Provincial Prosecutor, are vacant. Currently, OPP-ComVal is being headed and manned by prosecutors coming from OPP-Davao del Norte, OCP-Tagum City and OCP-Digos City," he said.

"OPP-Davao Oriental is also suffering from a shortage of prosecutors. With the recent appointment to the judiciary of two of its assistant provincial prosecutors, OPP-Davao Oriental is now left with only one prosecutor – the provincial prosecutor himself," he added.

However, Arellano said he is optimistic that the appointments of prosecutors for Davao City Prosecution Office will be finally released this month.
