A JAIL officer of Bacolod Police Station 1 was relieved from his post four days after a suspected carnapper bolted by slipping through the ceiling of their lock-up cell last September 13.
Senior Inspeector Richard Fajarito, chief of Police Station 1, said Sunday that Senior Police Officer 1 Dave Dollosa was stripped of his duties effective September 17 upon orders from Senior Superintendent Melchor Coronel, officer-in-charge of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
He said Dollosa was transferred to the BCPO headquarters while the pre-charge investigation is ongoing.
Dollosa was absent when still at-large Ryan Jan escaped by cutting the iron grille near the ceiling using a guitar cord. The suspect passed through the kitchen area and jumped from the second floor of the building.
Jan was arrested in a follow-up operation in Silay City last month after he carnapped the Fuso truck owned by Solina Tan parked at San Sebastian-Lacson Streets in Bacolod.
The suspect, who was charged for violation of Republic Act 6539 or Anti-Carnapping Law on August 17, was detained at Police Station 1 pending the issuance of the commitment order for his transfer to the custody of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
Police Officer 1 Maximo Hiponia III, the desk officer that day, failed to notice Jan’s escape, and he was only informed by a pedicab driver about the incident.
They failed to recapture Jan following a hot pursuit operation.
