DEPARTMENT of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Regional Director Julita Ragandang announced that at least 3,200 farmers are set to benefit this year in DAR’s land acquisition and distribution program here in Zamboanga Peninsula Region.
Ragandang made the announcement citing they are set to acquire some 4,500 hectares of land to be distributed to the identified farmer-beneficiaries of the land acquisition and distribution program.
She said the beneficiaries of the program are from the provinces of Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, and Zamboanga Sibugay and Isabela City.
However, Ragandang emphasized that the lands will not be distributed for free citing the farmer-beneficiaries will have pay monthly amortization within 30 years or until such time the land will be fully paid.
The government through the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) will purchase the land to be distributed to the farmer-beneficiaries of DAR’s land acquisition and distribution program, Ragandang said.
The LBP, in return, will collect the payment from the farmer-beneficiaries.
DAR will provide the necessary support infrastructures like farm-to-market-roads and irrigation system to ensure the lands they distributed to the farmers will be productive, Ragandang said. (Bong Garcia)
